Jesus is the Elect one

As Christians, we often discuss the idea of being chosen by God, known as "election."

A key aspect of this concept is understanding Jesus Christ's central role in our election.

The New Testament makes it clear that Jesus is the true "Chosen One" of God, as evidenced by the voice from the cloud during Jesus' transfiguration in Luke 9:35, which states, "This is my Son, my Chosen One; listen to him!"

Ephesians 1:4 explains that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world.

By exploring election, we see how our faith in Christ unites us as part of His body, the Church. The New Testament emphasizes the focus of election as Jesus Christ, who is chosen by God to be our Savior and the cornerstone of our faith. Through our relationship with Jesus, we become a part of God's chosen people.

Biblical election, properly taught, teaches us that God's choice is not about predestining specific individuals for salvation or damnation. Instead, it's about God choosing to save all those united with Christ through faith.

As believers, we are chosen "in Christ" and become part of His body, the Church. This idea is highlighted in 1 Corinthians 12:27, where Paul says, "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it."

Ephesians 2:19-20 illustrates our inclusion in God's chosen community, with Jesus as the foundation of our faith: "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone."

Our union with Christ is essential for our salvation and our place in God's chosen community.

Biblical election places Christ at the center of God's redemptive plan.

Romans 8:1 emphasizes the security and freedom we have through our union with Christ: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Whilst Galatians 3:26-27 highlights the essential nature of our relationship with Jesus and our identity as God's children through faith in Christ: "for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

The centrality of Christ in the Biblical election serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of our relationship with Jesus.

By understanding election and our place "in Christ," we can appreciate the unity we share as part of His body, the Church. This understanding should strengthen your faith, deepen your connection with Jesus, and allows you to fully embrace your part in God's chosen people.
